I had the pleasure of recently reading The Missing Medal. May I say, as the parent of adult children, I wish there had been more children’s books like this when my children were small. The genuineness of the storyline, the lovable characters and the overall teaching method of the author are sure to please children and parents alike. BRAVO! – Diane L.
I truly enjoy reading this book series. Kids are being entertained while learning a lesson about family. I look forward to reading the next book, they're very refreshing and fun. I'm wondering what Drew and Ellie's next adventure will be... – Gerri L.
As a teacher, reading specialist, mother and grandmother, I would like to commend the author of the Drew and Ellie adventure series, Charles Noland. One reason for advocating this series is that good character traits are encouraged and modeled. For example in the book, The Missing Medal, a typical situation arose that a child could easily identify with. Children (and adults) prefer not to own up to their shortcomings. However, Drew did tell the truth about what happened and because he did, he ended up feeling better. The reader, along with Drew, is encouraged to learn an important lesson about how telling the truth makes a person trustworthy as well. – Nancy F.
We loved the book! My kids have me reading it
to them all the time, and my daughter has been after me to try and
find her a magical dress. For your first children’s book,
you did a great job! Keep writing, we can hardly wait for the next
book. – Sara B.
As a busy mom with 2 boys ages 9 and 11; I find it very
refreshing that "The Magical Dress" has so many wonderful messages to offer
young people. My family can't wait to see what happens in the next adventure.
The sibling caring, the bond between a mom and her children
and the problem solving skills that are taught are wonderful. Way to go Mr.
Noland!!! – Roberta J.
I am an elementary school principal, a parent, and grandparent. The high quality of the content in the Drew and Ellie adventure series has prompted me to recommend this series to students, teachers and parents. These stories show, and also teach, children to exercise problem solving skills. Because many children rely on others to resolve their predicaments, the underlying message in this series is very worthwhile. Children need to know that if you really think about it, you can find a solution to a difficult situation. – Nick F.
I have to tell you, sitting down with my 7 year-old
son and watching him read along with your CD "The Magical Dress"
was absolutely amazing! His eyes were glued to the pages as he listened.
I could see his facial expressions change with every twist. It was
almost like he wanted to jump in the book himself to try and help.
I hope the next book comes out soon!! – James S.
As a parent, I was
moved by the message in this story. It serves as a good tool in
showing children that we sometimes take for granted in life the
important things that seem insignificant until they aren’t
there. It was a lovely story, beautifully illustrated and most importantly
displayed a good moral message. – Margaret A.
It is nice to find a book with a story that teaches
kids about being creative problem solvers. That the mother in the
story had empowered her children to work on solving their own problems
is wonderful! – Debbie T.
How wonderful to see a children's book that doesn't
use sensationalism or modernism to sell the story. There are no
scary dragons, no crazy gizmos and no expensive toys - just a simple
dress. But look at the magic that is inside! It also illustrates
positive attitudes and good values. It's not just another silly,
entertaining story. – Barbara Ann C.
Being a father, I constantly try to teach my
children to look after and take care of each other, especially when
my wife and I are not with them. I truly enjoyed the message in
the story about how Drew and Ellie, as brother and sister, worked
together to solve the problem of getting the dress to work again.
We are really looking forward to their next adventure. – Michael
