It’s time for another exciting adventure with seven-year-old Drew and his five-year-old sister Ellie. Once again, they discover that the magical dress can
help them explore exciting places while also helping them do a good deed for someone in need. The fifth book in The Adventures of Drew and Ellie series,
The Spooky Lighthouse is written for children ages five through nine.
In this latest adventure, Drew and Ellie are off to spend a fun-filled week at their Aunt Carol’s beach house in North Carolina. While playing in the sand
and chasing waves in the ocean, Drew becomes intrigued by a lighthouse just down the beach. He finds it even more interesting when a neighbor friend, Mrs. Clifton,
tells them the chilling tale of Salty Pete, a fisherman lost at sea. She explains that Pete’s ghost has been rumored to still walk the beach near the lighthouse on stormy nights.
One day, when the two decide to take a break from the sun and surf, Ellie suggests they use the magical dress to go to the lighthouse so they can look for big seashells near the rocks.
Once they reach the lighthouse, an approaching storm forces them to seek shelter inside. After finding their way in, Drew wants to climb the stairs to the top and do some exploring.
But a sudden scream from Ellie thwarts his plans, and the two must discover the source of some strange sounds coming from behind a closed wooden door. Could it be the legendary ghost of Salty Pete? Or someone else?
Facing down their fears, Drew and Ellie once again learn the importance of being brave. Not only do they reunite Mrs. Clifton with her favorite friend, but they also learn the importance of lending a helping hand.
Through an enchanting story and engaging pictures, The Spooky Lighthouse combines the suspense of a good ghost story with the positive message that young people really can make a difference in this world.
It’s a fun beach story that shows once again, through Drew and Ellie’s positive modeling of sibling relationships, that children can accomplish great things by working together.
